My New Year Resolution by Oluwapelumi - January 2016 Scholarship Essay
A new year resolution that will help me to become a better student in 2016 is doing more extracurricular activities. I am a premed student and as a premed student, I know that I am required to have great grades. Apart from great grades, I am also required to do different kinds of extracurricular activities.
I am currently in my 2nd year of college and I have been doing well academically, but I also need to focus on my extracurricular works. I need to volunteer in different places both medicine (or science) and non-medicine (science) related.
There are different places that I could work in terms of it being related to science. I could volunteer in hospitals, research places, work as a lab assistant and many more. I could volunteer in different places in the hospital. For example, I could volunteer in the emergency room, outpatient admitting, human resources, and many other places. In terms of activities not related to science, I could do more community service in my neighborhood, join more student organizations on my school campus and get active on campus. I could also offer to help other students in my school by volunteering as a tutor for biology, chemistry, math and any other science related course.
In conclusion, in the spring semester, I hope to actually work on this resolution and get active in every capacity possible.
