Starting my sophomore year of high school, I had to take a required chemistry class. Going into this class, I thought it was going to be extremely hard and boring. Thankfully, I had two amazing teachers who pushed me into enjoying the class. They made the class enjoyable and interactive, which is how I learn best. We did various labs to teach us how different chemicals react when mixed, and the process of how different things are made using chemistry. In taking this class, I learned that it was not as difficult and boring as I initially thought. My chemistry class was one of the most enjoyable science classes I have taken in my high school career it made me realize that I wanted to major in chemistry. Chemistry is a wide-ranging field that has opportunities for everyone. You can become a chemical engineer, medical chemist, etc.
As high school continued, I started to think about what I wanted to do in the future, considering I wanted to be a chemistry major and wanted to go into healthcare. I eventually decided I was going to be a pre-dental student to become an Orthodontist. My chemistry degree will give me a good background to start dentistry when it comes to knowing how to make fillings and adhesives. Going to college to be a STEM major is going to be a new and challenging experience, adding to the requirements needed to get into dental school. However, I know with hard work and dedication, I can succeed. Going to college and dental school is an expensive process, and getting all the help necessary will be extremely rewarding and keep me motivated in accomplishing my dreams, with the help of the Varsity Tutors Scholarship.
