Makin' Bank by Olivia - January 2016 Scholarship Essay

Everyone always says, "I'm going to apply for a bunch of scholarships!", but no one ever truly does it. I've applied for quite a few, but nowhere near enough. Applying for national scholarships is tricky, and many people put in applications. All of us work for days on finding the correct wording and eliminating grammar mistakes. My major New Year's resolution is to apply for at least one scholarship per day until I start college in the Fall. This includes national, regional, merit based, essay only, and random drawing scholarships. I concluded that it couldn't hurt at all to try as many as I can, in hopes that no one else thinks or bothers to apply.

I plan to attend college as a Biology major for four years in undergraduate school, then move up to medical school and specialize in Neurology. This path has been my dream for as long as I remember, but as I've gotten older, I've realized I picked a very pricey ambition. Selling my artwork and working part time at a law office just wasn't cutting it, and I started to get worried about the very few grants and scholarships I had already applied for. I won't ever win any scholarships if I don't apply, and taking a few minutes every day to escape from social media, television, and video games to do something that could potentially change my future for the better doesn't hurt. So far, I have been able to complete this New Year's resolution, and I'm looking forward to seeing how much it will pay off.
