The Finish Line by Nyabun - August 2022 Scholarship Essay
My objectives for this year are critical. It's my senior year of high school, and it's the most important year of my high school career. My top priority is to think about my future plans. I want to be able to do everything I've always wanted to do since I was a kid. To further my education and make my parents proud. Graduating high school is a huge accomplishment for someone who comes from a family of six. My parents are South Sudanese refugees who never had the opportunity to receive an education. My entire life, they have emphasized the importance of getting a degree. Another goal for the coming year is to maintain focus and resilience. Being a senior in high school can be a challenging time. You're under a lot of stress and wondering, "What am I going to do when I'm finished?" What if I don't make the right decisions and follow the correct path in life? One thing I will not do this year is remain silent when I am confused. I've learned over the years that asking a teacher that one question that's been bothering you for days can make a huge difference. In the long run, my ability to communicate and express myself will benefit me. Anything worthwhile will take time, and I will take this into account. This year, I will listen to every lesson, ask questions, and work efficiently. I, Nyabun, will give it my all and stretch myself by seeking out additional resources and confronting my challenges.
