I see myself as a successful engineer in a job that I love 10 years from now. Obviously, this future won’t just magically happen all on its own, my education will serve as the path I must follow to achieve this future for myself. My education will play a crucial role in my ability to become a successful engineer. I will need to utilize resources both inside and outside of the classroom to ensure that I can achieve a successful future. My pursuit of education will help me realize this future by providing me with the knowledge in mechanical engineering that I need to be successful in the workplace, provide me with real world engineering experience, and provide me with the resources I need to prepare myself for an engineering career.
For me to eventually become a successful engineer I will be expected to be knowledgeable in both engineering and the engineering design process. My pursuit of education will help me in both of these areas. My mathematics classes will allow me to apply calculus to the projects that I will work on and it will provide me with the tools that I need to manipulate data. My physics classes will allow me to practice the application of mathematics to real world scenarios, which will in turn allow me to find unknowns associated with a given design. As well as this, many of my future classes will each serve as a major stepping stone towards my future as a successful engineer.
My pursuit of education will not only provide me with the knowledge necessary to become a successful engineer as it will also allow me to gain real world engineering experience. My university has several resources that I will utilize to land internships so that I may gain work experience in mechanical engineering. This will allow me to realize my future as I will already have an understanding on how to function in an engineering career. As well as this, once I hit my senior year I will have the opportunity to solve a problem that an actual company has and provide that company with the solution to that problem. This project combined with the internships that I plan on going for will be crucial for me to become a successful engineer.
Besides the real world experience my education will provide me with, I also have access to several resources through my institution that will allow me to gain experience with the engineering design process outside of the classroom. I have free access to 3D printers which will allow me to create personal projects for myself. These projects will be a great way for me to practice the use of the engineering design process. Each project will allow me to develop and refine my approach to engineering problems so that I may one day become a successful engineer.
In conclusion, I see myself as a successful engineer in a job that I love 10 years from now. My pursuit of education will play a crucial role in allowing me to realize this future. My education will provide me with the knowledge necessary to solve engineering problems so that I can apply this knowledge to a future career. My institution will provide me with the resources necessary to gain real world experience with engineering so that I can be prepared for the workforce. My pursuit of education outside of the classroom will allow me to develop the skills necessary to solve engineering problems. All in all, these are the ways in which education will allow me to become a successful engineer 10 years from now.
