Education is one of the most important things in the world today, and not necessarily the way in which most think. You are educated in all things that you do, whether you are in elementary school, high school, college, or even a job, you are constantly learning. From the time you are young, until you retire, and even beyond, you are constantly being educated. College is very important in most peoples lives. Many desirable jobs require a college education anymore, and there is a lot that goes in to succeeding when you are in college. Some of the most important aspects are the soft skills in which you posses. In layman's terms, a soft skill is a characteristic skill such as time management, the ability to communicate, teamwork, conflict resolution, and creative thinking. Said soft skills are all very important to having a successful situation, but the most important differs between students.

Time management is a great skill to possess, but it is more important to some than it is others. To the student who is working two jobs and going back to school to finish their degree, time management skills are uber-important. Said skill is slightly less important to the student who does not work, other than their work at school. Not to discredit second student, but he has a lot more time to manage, which ironically, makes it easier.

Communication is a soft skill in which every student, young or old, new or seasoned, needs to possess. Whether communicating with class members, professors, or other faculty and staff, you need to know how to properly do so. Without the skill of communication, you will surely find yourself struggling.

Teamwork is an important soft skill that will help, not only in school, but in the entirety of life. You will not find a job, club, or any activity that does not require some form of teamwork on any level. Not only is it important, but it also makes certain jobs and activities easier and more enjoyable.

The skill of conflict resolution will carry you far in the realm of education. A majority of students will find themselves in conflict when in school, whether it be with a professor, fellow student, or an administrator. However, conflict resolution is not only important in school, but also in any jobs or projects you may find yourself in.

Creative thinking is something that seems to be instilled in most people from a young age. Whether they can think up a design out of thin air, or can create a story in their mind in a split second, there is a lot of that needed when you are furthering your education. Anymore, you can hardly make it through a semester without needing to write an essay of some sort, and creative thinking is very important when writing.

Five soft skills, but is any one of them more important than the other? It seems as though you need some of all of them to be successful in the world, and to have a successful education. In the long run, it seems as though strong communication is the most important. It reflects to all kinds of students, and seems to be equally important to all kinds. Though they are all important factors for success, lack of communication would hinder anybody.
