Dinner with the One and Only by Noah - October 2017 Scholarship Essay
There have been so many amazing presidents in my mere 17 years of being alive, even though it has only been 3. I have compared them to the far-out presidents beyond my time of being alive. I have searched far and wide to the answer of “Who I would have dinner with?”, and though I have debated in my head who, we all know who the winner is. It is my main man Barack Obama.
Not just being the first African-American President, Obama has shown to be a true, as the kids would say, “homie”, to the people of America. I would just have so many questions to ask to him, in which I couldn’t ask presidents before my time. I would want to ask, “Have you kept up with the Kardashians?”, which is very important to know in our present-day pop culture. You wouldn’t be able to ask FDR that, and I wouldn’t want to be stuck asking him about “The New Deal”.
Obama relates to us. I mean he plays basketball in spare time, and other cool things. I also am thriving off that Obamacare, so he is a true homie for that. I could ask about Michele and why she tried to make everything healthy, because she changed my school’s cookies for a week, and those cookies will never be the same after that. I could even date one of his daughters, so I mean that would-be kind of cool, just saying.
On a serious note, Obama does care. One of my favorite quotes, “Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.”, comes from him, and is important to me. He has become a role-model for me as an African-American trying to strive. He has taught me that yes, we can promote change! He has shown that a black man can do anything he puts his mind too, and though there are disadvantages in the world, we can overcome. If he has not shown you anything, at least know he has represented change.
Having dinner with him, would just be unbelievable. You could ask him about the war in Afghanistan. I could ask about his thoughts on Trump. He would also give me advice on to how to make strides of leadership in my city. I could talk about topics that are problems in todays’ world. I would hope he could show me how to be a better person as well.
Barack Obama is probably one of the coolest presidents ever. If you literally look up "super cool presidents" on Google, look who is there. No seriously, look it up. I could talk politics and basketball all at once with this guy, as well eating an awesome dinner. He has changed my life completely, and no other president, at least in my lifespan, has.
