Accomplishing Dreams by Nicole - December 2015 Scholarship Essay
Growing up, ten years felt like an eternity. Now, as the time ticks closer and closer to graduation day I can see my life perfectly clear ten years from now. In ten short years I see myself in a white lab coat with the words "Nicole Brandes Physician Assistant" written across the right shoulder. I will not be able to accomplish this dream without having an exceptional education.
This year alone, I have excelled in the medical field. I had written essay after essay and asked for many recommendation letters just to get into a program that allows high school seniors shadow medical residents. When I heard about this opportunity I was determined to be one of the 30 kids that got accepted. After waiting weeks I received an email saying that I was accepted into the Kent ISD Medical Internship Program.
Being a part of this internship has increased my will to accomplish my dreams of being a Physician Assistant. I have been able to work alongside medical professionals in the many units including the Emergency Room and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
After high school my education and personal drive will be the only things pushing me to accomplish my goal. The internship will be over and going to college will be my next step on my journey. Ten years from now I will have my lab coat and title because of the hard work I put in and the education that I received.
Education is a vital part of accomplishing goals. None of us would like to have a brain surgeon operate on our organs with no education.
Especially because I am entering the medical field, a well rounded education is crucial. It will give me the knowledge I need to be able to properly care for patients and give them the best care possible.
When patients go the the hospital they want to have a positive experience and be well taken care of. Ten years from now my education will be the thing that transforms my patients hospital experience from pleasant to exceptional.
