Describe a character from a book and tell how he/she has influenced you. by Nicole - April 2014 Scholarship Essay

I recently started reading The Hunger Games series and watching the series. I really love it. Katniss Everdeen is the main character. She is an outdoors hunting girl but also a loving caring person who would do anything for anybody especially her family. You can tell she will because she volunteers for her little sister. She loves her so much that she is willing to die to save her. That is really touching. I have three older sisters that I love with all my heart. I would do anything to protect them. I would die just to protect them. We may fuss and fight all the time, but I would die for them.

Katniss Everdeen never gave up on winning the games either. She fought so hard to win and get out alive. She even tried to keep people safe and tried to get them out alive too. Katniss influenced me that no matter what the situation you’re in never give up. I’ve wanted to quite many sports before, but I kept telling myself to never give up. I did quit basketball during my sophomore year and I got to thinking that I wanted to play again and not give up. So my junior year I decided to try back out for the team. I tried everything to get back on the team and never gave up. I didn’t make the team but it was the idea that I never gave up that counted.

Katniss also used her resources that she had to survive. I think that is really cool. After reading and watching the movie, I have. found myself using my resources to get what I need done. Katniss Everdeen has really influenced my life.
