Your extra-curricular activities are important by Nick - April 2016 Scholarship Essay
Knowing what I know now that I have been accepted into my top two colleges choices, I would tell younger students that it is your extra-curricular options that really can make a difference in your college admissions and scholarship options. Start and plan early if you are hoping to attend college. Actually, it might be beneficial to plan on college just to be ready for it. If you change your mind, then it wasn’t wasted time. You never know if you will change your mind back to college in the future.
Look at what scholarship opportunities there are available in your main extra-curricular activities that you already enjoy. Determine if there are any of your current activities that offer more scholarship opportunities. This way you can still do what you love and hopefully earn scholarship money at the same time. If the main focus of your available time doesn’t have any way to earn you scholarships, maybe your second choice has an amazing number of scholarships available. If you switch from your first choice to your second choice, it might be more worth your time in the long run.
Every little bit adds up when it comes to paying for college. Search for scholarships everywhere and start early. Pay attention to what you love to do and make it work for you.
