Timing Is Everything by Nichole - September 2014 Scholarship Essay

During college, students are probably going to be busier than they have ever been. Students have to juggle so many things that they probably did not have to deal with in high school. Classes are longer and more strenuous, deadlines are harder to meet and stricter, professors expect much more of people, and that does not even cover everything one needs to do outside of the classroom. Time management is one of the most important skills to have when going to college.

Between going to classes, studying, doing homework, having a job, and trying to salvage a social life, there does not seem to be much time for anything else. This can cause a student to feel extremely overwhelmed or they might forget certain tasks that needed to get accomplished. Having good time management skills is imperative to relieve stress, remember all commitments, and be an overall good student.

Good time management skills not only help in college, but translate to the work force as well. Future employers are more likely to hire applicants who can manage their time well and organize their tasks as opposed to procrastinating and rushing to finish the task later. Good time management also helps tasks run more smoothly and efficiently because they are not being rushed. Time management skills are a key part of college and life.
