Leadership is a consistent quality found in very successful people. Society depends on leaders to positively influence others, always have a direction, and accomplish tasks. College is an important building block in building a successful future and having all options open for your interests and desires. To accomplish college successfully, one must obtain necessary leadership skills in patience, hard work, and drive to accomplish your dreams.

Patience is an incredible virtue to have. By being calm and relaxed, a person shows his or her ability to tolerate situations and accept delays or negative outcomes without frustration or anger. I believe I have learned a great amount of patience by experiencing my first job in the fast food industry. Dealing with customers of varying emotions, I learned to listen and remain calm instead of becoming frustrated and perhaps loosing my job. This not only applies to having a job but attending college as well. By having patience, a student will become more pleasing socially around peers, better equipped for difficult subjects that require hours of studying, and less frustrated if failures or obstacles occur.

Hard work is another necessary leadership skill to become successful in college. College, being a higher level of education than high school, requires an increase in time studying and preparation for each class. Hard work not only means working hard, but staying organized in scheduling time for studying and time for relaxation and other activities. By being hardworking, a student stays on top of their school work by putting hours of studying each night and making sure they have some time for college outside of the textbooks.

Finally, drive is an essential leadership skill required to accomplish college successfully. College provides the necessary classes and degrees for all kinds of occupations. Once a student realizes what he or she wants to major in, the student will then take classes in the specific field of their choosing. Yes hard work, patience, and other leadership skills are necessary to succeed in obtaining success, but they will be useless without the drive to achieve a goal. A student in college must have drive in what they are studying and interest in learning about the subject that is being taught. Without interest or passion there is a hard time seeing the love and purpose. Drive is the the intangible inspiration that keeps a student motivated and hungry for achieving success.

Leadership skills are vital for success in college. By having a hard work ethic, patience, and an incredible drive in what one is passionate about, success will be achieved. College prepares a student with the knowledge and tools for life after schooling. By obtaining critical leadership skills in college, a student is prepared to lead out in the world.
