Goals by Nicholas - August 2022 Scholarship Essay

Academic Goals can be hard to quantify, especially when one knows not what to expect. All I can hold myself to, is last year's standards, which can scarcely be improved upon. I left my Junior year with A’s in all my classes, which I believe I can maintain into next year. I am taking some higher-level classes, such as physics and pre-calculus. That Is my goal from a purely academic perspective. However I believe that there is more to the school experience than good grades.

I am Involved in a great deal of extracurricular activities that allow me to strive for more ambitious desires. I am on a robotics team, where I hope to play a critical role in designing exhibits for Haunted Palouse (a 17+ haunted house experience). This upcoming school year, I am acting as the president of our school's D&D club and will be able to attend the ASB meetings, and as I have never had an ASB position before, I am looking forward to the challenge of student politics, where I hope to be successful. I participated in DECA the previous school year where I was able to go to a Statewide competition. While I wasn’t able to qualify for and attend the National competition, that is another one of my goals for the coming year.

Moving on to college, I hope to retain my 3.8+ GPA. I will be going into an engineering field, with a focus on physics. I would like to join several of the engineering clubs on campus. I hope to continue my robotics experience into college, and if my preferred college doesn’t have a robotics team, I intend on founding one.
