I believe the electronic classroom (E-learning) will be the biggest improvement in education’s future. I have several reasons why that will explain my reason for this.
With the advancement of E-learning, the traditional classroom will become a thing of the past. Students will learn from the comfort of their own home. Can you imagine settling down to your studies while in the comfort of your pajamas every day? No more worry of buying the right clothes to fit in or waiting on the bus in the cold every morning.
E-learning will replace the face to face need for teachers. This will reduce the cost for building maintenance, heating, cooling, insurance, teacher and janitorial staff.
E-learning will have flexible schedules. Students will be able to seek their education any time of the day or night that is best conducive for them. This will reduce the truancy problem.
E-learning will accommodate the needs and goals of each individual student. This will be beneficial for students with academic problems, behavioral issues and specific interests and areas of focus. E-learning will provide feedback in real-time. Therefore, students will have immediate feedback of their work. Math, literature, science will still be taught. However, they will be taught differently. Students will have paperless tests. For example, in literature, students will be asked what a story means. Students will be evaluated on their critical- thinking skills. What about the medical profession? E-learning will provide simulation activities for projects in the past that required hands on participation. Robots will be able to perform the most delicate surgeries and replace surgeons.
Security will continue to be a top priority in the future. E-learning will provide students with the opportunity to take electronic field trips all over the world in the safety of their own home.
E-learning will give students access. Access to other learners all over the world. Access to limitless knowledge.
I believe the electronic classroom will be the biggest improvement in education’s future. Those old Jetson cartoons will actually become a reality.
