A famous song in 1978 by Gloria Gaynor says” I will survive” is one of my favorite songs.
I like the lyrics but, the meaning behind the song is more significant to me. Going back to school after twenty years is one of the most exciting and, yet complicated things I’ve had to do. I’m 40 at the present time so, where do I see myself in ten years and will my education help?
In ten years I will be 50 and I see myself with my grandchildren at our country home for the weekend. I’m not going to work when I’m fifty I have been working since, the age of thirteen. I was in the nursing field fourteen years and needed a change but, wasn’t able to do so till now. My son is in college so, I decided to go to college I just received my high school diploma this year I went back and obtained it. I’m a survivor I been through everything and the education I get from college will help me to become a social studies teacher for middle school students. I like children and I have always had a passion to peruse education but never did. Now there’s no stopping me I have the tools I need to succeed.
To every person adult going back to school are college you can do it with grace and morals that’s all we have at the end of the day. I’m learning and experiencing things like never before. Me and my son work on home work together and were able to help each other .I have a ten year old daughter I’m able to read to now and help with assignments with confidence. She wants to be a teacher and peruse a career like her mom and that’s what makes me proud .And a son who’s attends Yale and able to assist and correct me all the time with assignments. So, if I don’t make it 10 years from now. All I have is right now to say thank you for the topic because, I never really thought about it.
