There’s always alight at the end of a dark tunnel. by Nia - April 2025 Scholarship Essay
Receiving this scholarship would be an incredible honor and a step towards achieving my long-term goals. My passion has always been rooted in helping others. I believe that even the smallest act of kindness can have a lasting impact. One of my favorite quotes is: Helping people might not change the whole world, but it could change the world for one person. This quote resonates with me deeply because it reflects the kind of difference I want to make in the world-one life at a time.
Because of this passion, I plan to major in criminal justice. I’ve seen and learned about the many injustices that exist within our legal system, particularly those that affect black communities and people of color. Too often, power and privilege are reserved for few, while others are silenced, overlooked, or denied justice. I want to change that.
My dream is to become a victims advocate or an FBI agent, where I can stand up for those who have been silent and fight for fairness, equity, and true Justice. I want to be a voice for the voiceless and a source of hope for those who feel forgotten. My goal is to show up for people not just with words, but with action, compassion, and real commitment.
Being awarded the scholarship would not only ease the financial burden of pursuing higher education, but it would also affirm that my dreams in the mission I carry in my heart matter. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to be considered, and I promise to use it to create meaningful change in the lives of others.
