I believe that excellent leadership skills are the foundation for a successful college experience. Going to college can be an overwhelming feeling to many but by having quality leadership skills, the journey becomes just a bit easier. Possessing leadership skills allows for an individual to build a platform of success in which he or she can thrive in college.

When an individual makes the journey to college they are thrown into a different world full of: new people, a different lifestyle, and detachment from family which can be really difficult for the average student. However, strong leadership skills are what allow the individual to make the right choices and make sure they achieve their goals in college. It would be easy to fall into the wrong path and make poor choices while at college, but with leadership skills an individual can understand the implications of his or her actions and make the right decisions. Having strong leadership skills promotes better decision-making, belief in oneself, and a positive mindset, which are all crucial skills needed for college success. Having quality leaderships skills are necessary because ultimately they are what get you through college successfully. Leadership skills such as perseverance, integrity, motivation, and organization are some of the skills that go along with college success.

While not all individuals have the innate characteristics of a leader, it can be taught and demonstrated to others through the use of actions. At the end of the day its leadership skills that are the ultimate decider that determines college success and perfecting these skills is what every college student should do. Not only are leadership skills a good indicator of how far you will go in one’s college career, but also how far he or she will go in the real world also.
