My Passion of Learning Through Guitar. by Nathan - February 2025 Scholarship Essay

Throughout my life I've listened to a lot of music generally listening to types of hip hop, pop, and rock music. Although I listen to all types of music my favorite music has always included a large part with the guitar.
This love for the sound of the guitar started with artists like Juice Wrld where I loved his voice but also many of the beats he had used for his song had the guitar and recently I've been unable to listen to anything else apart from songs with a lot of guitar. Because of this love I recently picked guitar as a class for my second semester to see what playing it was like and I wanted to try something new. After starting to play I've been unable to contain my obsession to learn more and to get better and that's started to leak into my other current subjects. I've started noticing my mood during my other classes, especially math when I typically longed going to math but now in class I can't wait to start and get to solving the new and hard problems. This also has affected how I view my passion of learning into the future as well as it gave me a deeper understanding of myself and how I want to learn about things that I like such as guitar while learning other subjects and how that overall improves my mood and view on how I learn and how well I do.
Overall by playing and being obsessed with learning the guitar I've learned a lot about myself and how I can better support my learning to the future by mixing in subjects I want to learn about and then the subjects that even if I don't like them, when in conjunction with ones I do like it makes it easier and more fun to learn and pursue my acedemic goals.
