One Chance to Teach the Kids by Nathan - June 2023 Scholarship Essay
One singular itching thought always has appeared in my brain.
Once I am older, how will I impact the next generation of kids, just like my teachers, my parents, and mentors? Will I ever get an opportunity to at least nudge them to a STEM interest or help their future careers in some way? I could never answer that question I gave myself. However, I knew I always had a passion for teaching the youth, whether it was showing how to screw a lightbulb or how to solve for x in an algebra equation.
Education has been my backbone: the foundation of everything I ever learned since as long as I can remember. A decade from now, I am able to strive to establish my career in mechanical engineering as well as never forget this passion I will still have by starting a free STEM program for middle schoolers. There are 64,090 students in my county eligible for my short educational program. Also, it will be full of volunteering mentors ranging from excited high schoolers to experience professionals. Each of which are given the chance to teach the kids of the next generation. The establishment of a STEM program is my goal of the next ten years.
My education has exhibited the value of these mentors and the possibility of one's effect on the future of another one's life. It has taught me to learn and cherish the people around us as well as seize each and every opportunity. In life, we are only given one chance.
My chance will be spent on the oncoming generations after us.
