The Kind Of Person I Am by Nathan - January 2019 Scholarship Essay
Many people see themselves as morning people who wake up all happy and stress free. Others, pull off all nighters to work until 3am and wake up in the middle of the afternoon. Personally, I see myself as a morning person as I do my best to wake up as early as I can. I grew up in a family where I was restricted to sleep early and wake up early. I used to hate sleeping routine my parents would force me to do and sometimes I would go on my phone pretending to be asleep. However, overtime I began to get used to it and took advantage of waking up early. I was able to get all of my difficult jobs out of the way in the morning and have the rest of the day to relax. Usually, when people are forced to wake up early, they are all grumpy and sleepy. That doesn’t apply to me as I have so much energy inside me from sleeping early allowing me to use that energy towards my work. Through research, I learned that some of the richest people in the world wake up early as 5 am in the morning to start their day which motivates me to do the same. In the morning, my parents and siblings usually sleep in until 9 am allowing me to have 4 hours to myself. The quiet that surrounds the house allows me to have more concentration when doing reading assignments for schools and being able to see the sunrise is a bonus to me as well.
As a morning person, I was able to learn how manage my time wisely. As I have said before, having 4 hours by myself and 12 hours left of the day before I go to sleep leaves me more time then I can use. Some days I would waste a majority of my time watching videos and playing games but overtime I began to use my time more wisely. I would do one hour of studying for school, then one hour break, one hour of reading, one hour break, one hour applying for colleges, etc. With this strategy, I was able to achieve more things in my vast amount of time that is actually useful to me then wasting my life away on meaningless things.
