Living for A Better Tomorrow by Nathan - July 2017 Scholarship Essay
If I were to present an informative Ted Talk, I would exemplify the conditions that we currently face, concerning climate, including statistics on the subsequent impact that negligence carries into the near future. Not only is climate change an ever-growing epidemic, it is a topic that is profusely disputed in disbelief between many politicians and media outlets. Nevertheless, what they, and many others do not seem to grasp is that whether the cause of global climate change is "thanks to" man or mother nature, it has been an ongoing problem for decades. Yet rather than bickering in disagreement with one another, we should attempt to discover a resolution to this rampant issue. Imagine if we spent merely half—solely half—the time spent on determining possible solutions to combat this global setback, rather than debating opinions. I believe that there could have been an innumerable sum of possible solutions already to this day; of course, with several leading to no avail. However, in all honesty at least in this circumstance there is time well spent on a significant, important topic of high status.
Moreover, emphasis is key. In order for this matter to be taken in all seriousness, there needs to be an explicit sense of complete honest integrity of the facts provided, and less strain on mere opinions. Opinions may be additive to evoke a sense of urgency, yet not necessary to elaborate the current substantiated facts allowing the message to be portrayed with: truth. For example in regards to the sea level rising, it is rising at an exponential rate, yet I hear (or see) little to no urgency with this matter. Especially concerning a prime, potential victim of severe sea level changes: Florida. A state that for better or worse, I have a personal connection with. Nonetheless, this grave condition has yet to be brought up with persistence, and blatant truth to the public.
All in all, this most definitely continues to remain a drastic subject at hand with no clear probable solutions. If there is any hope for a better future—a better tomorrow—we must coalesce as individuals to protect the future of our planet, as well as our families.
