A Morning Person or a Night Owl by Natalie - January 2019 Scholarship Essay
Initially, when I read the essay question right away I thought my answer was going to say that I am a night owl. To me saying I am a night owl was the obvious answer as it is hard for me to go to bed before 12:30 am and it is very difficult for me to wake up before 10:30 am. And yet saying I am a night owl did not feel right as I began to think about my productivity. Surprisingly, though I do enjoy staying up late and sleeping in, I believe I am a morning person. Thinking over the last few years and how I handled scheduling my classes is what helped me come to this decision. When I first started college I always though starting my day with early afternoon class would be the way to go as I would have plenty of rest and some spare time for whatever else I had that needed to be done before and after school. Though I did start some days with an early afternoon class I was not able to escape the fact that I had to have a 9 am class. It turned out that the days I had classes in the earlier side were those in which I was the most productive. Over the last few school years I have learned that if I start my day between 8:30 am and 10 am I will be productive for most if not the whole day. For me, that hour and a half is my golden time for me to start being productive, as it is when I actually want to get tasks done. Starting my day around that period of time allows me plenty of time to complete my daily classes and homework, go to work, do errands, and allows my evenings to be open for me to do as I please; most likely doing a puzzle or watching sports. So in the end, I guess I am a morning person.
