You Changed the Course of My Life, Thank You by Nassar - January 2025 Scholarship Essay

Dear Ms. Bond,
Around two and a half years ago, I had the pleasure of stepping foot into your AP Chemistry classroom. I remember vividly walking in on my first day, and, well, being lost. Am I supposed to go to the third or
fourth row? Do I sit near the aisle or window?

But this didn't last for long. From a mile away, I saw you gradually approaching me. Without hesitation, you took me under your wing, gave me a treat, and took me to my seat.

Oh, and you took it a step further.

After class, you sat with me and spoke with me like family. You comforted me, but, more importantly, you
motivated me to continue chasing after my goal to combat STEM educational inequities and
advocate for those with neurological disorders.

At the same time, you opened up to me, and I got to return the favor by pushing you to pursue your
educational dreams.

In all honesty, if it weren't for you, I would've never been able to figure out what it was that I loved. I
would've never heard the stories and experiences of my community. I would've never had the
courage to speak up for others.
