Personal experiences that led to select my chosen major by Naomi - February 2024 Scholarship Essay

Imagine all the moments that remind you why you have chosen your passion as your major. Some personal experiences that led me to choose Fashion Design as my major are watching Miraculous Ladybug and my mother teaching me how to sew by hand.
One experience that guided me to choose Fashion Design as my major was watching Miraculous Ladybug. Miraculous Ladybug is a TV series I watched as a kid and the main character Mairnette sometimes expresses her love for fashion. I remember watching an episode when Marinette was drawing a design of a derby and then creating it for a contest and I was thinking “I want to do that” This is revealing because at this moment I realized I could choose to be a designer and I will pick Fashion as my major. In short, watching Miraculous Ladybug led me to discover fashion as a major.
Another experience that ushered me into deciding Fashion Design as a major was when my mother taught me how to sew by hand. My mother was sewing a blanket for my brother and I had the curiosity to know what my mother was doing. I asked her what she was doing and she told me that she was sewing and she asked if I wanted to learn the next thing I knew I was enjoying practicing sewing clothing by hand. This is significant because by learning how to sew I learn the passion for making clothing. In brief, learning how to sew influenced my decision to choose fashion.
As I have noted, watching Mircaulas Ladybug and learning how to sew are two experiences that ushered me to develop a love for fashion and select Fashion Design as my major. As a result of having these experiences, I have grown to decide on design as something I want to do for my future.
