1+ piece of advice by Naomi - March 2019 Scholarship Essay

Giving advice usually comes with the unfortunate side effect of sounding cliché, and cliché advice is usually written off. My advice comes with experience that cannot be easily conveyed through words, as most advice does. My first piece of advice: when you read something, try to feel the words. It will make it infinitely more worthwhile.
Nothing is the end of your world. It might be the end of your world as you know it, but you can never foresee what your new world will open up to you. Even when you have seven credits for an honor society to get, a falling out with a friend to heal, yourself to heal, practice in ten minutes, an impossible math quiz tomorrow for which you do not know where to begin studying, you will get through it (yes, I am partially projecting).
You will get through it to tomorrow: where you can make changes that will help you manage this stress. Make changes in your life when something makes you unhappy. Do not be afraid of change. Do not get mad at yourself if you slack on these changes. Be patient with yourself.
Start assignments the day you get assigned them, it will relieve an amazing amount of stress. Try it once, if it doesn’t work for you, make your own schedule. If you don’t have time that day, don’t get mad at yourself.
Be friendly with everyone. Everyone has something to offer the world, everyone has a lesson to teach you. It could be how to get over heartbreak, or how to rebuild your life. But it could be how to love deeper or understand emotions better.
Most of all: Believe in yourself. Loving yourself is what will make you happy. Even when you fail your math test, and then a reading test, and then your physics test: it is okay. Believing that you will do better and understanding that that math test is not you is so important for your motivation. Love yourself so that everyone else can too.
