As a high school student, I often face many problems that make life seem so hard. During my sophomore year I took a college prep class called AVID. Inside the classroom we would do research projects and discuss many things. One day, at the end of the grading period, our teacher showed us a video called Get off of the escalator. In that video we saw a man and a women standing in an escalator that had stopped moving. Instead of walking off, they both called for help. At first the class was confused. We asked her why she would show us such a silly video when we could have been working on improving our grades. She explained that the video was to show us that sometimes we encounter some problems and instead of finding a simple solution ourselves, we wait for someone to solve it for us. Personally, this was a very interesting lesson. This allowed me to reflect on how I deal with the obstacles I face. Now, every time that I feel like I am stuck, I try to find a solution myself, and remember that sometimes I just have to get off the escalator.
