High tech classrooms by Nanci - February 2018 Scholarship Essay

Technology has become such an integral part of education in the past years and as technology advances, so has its use in the classroom. When you think of a classroom you usually think of it as inside a school with desks and a whiteboard, but not all students can physically attend school, so they seek the alternative of online schooling and a computer suddenly becomes their classroom. When it comes to online schooling, there are two options - a more social/interactive option and a more independent one.

The more independent option of online schooling is formatted individually for every student. Each lesson plan is specifically designed for them. Also, this provides students with an option of learning and completing things at their own pace, but at the same time obtaining the same knowledge as any other person that would physically attend school.

There's also a more social and interactive option if you want something that feels more like a school with a teacher and even other students, all while staying at home. In that option, students connect online at the same time with the teacher and they are able to view the teacher as well as the teacher is able to view all of them. This alternative is a great way to interact with the teacher and ask questions. Recently there has even been a robot that goes to school for the student and gives the student the opportunity of seeing everything that goes around in the school and class and is able to respond to everything said to them.

Technology advances at such a fast pace that this is the way we might be looking at high tech classrooms in the near future. Teachers will adapt and be trained so that they will be able to teach using this method. Students, like me, will be able to be to virtually anywhere in the world and still have access to learning.
