My Future by Mya - January 2018 Scholarship Essay

I imagine myself twenty years from today, with a family, an amazing career I enjoy, and living a happy life. That is what any eighteen year old can hope for. From listening to my parents, to long talks with my counselor, over the years I have learned the importance of attending college. I have always grown up wanting a big family that I can provide for without having to struggle financially. Enjoying my job and loving what I do every day is also a goal I strive to reach for. Throughout the years I have worked hard to achieve my goals all for my future. I am finally at the point where my future is becoming more of a reality and I am starting to make decisions that will affect the rest of my life. One word to describe why I want to attend college is the word future.
Since I could even remember, I have grown up with the mindset of going to a university. Attending college and getting a good education is so important to me and will help me set up for my future. For the next four years, l will pick a major that will hopefully determine what I will be doing for the rest of my life. It excites me to think about the amazing opportunities I will get to experience and the opportunities high school didn’t offer. For example, I anticipate on meeting new people and working in a new environment. The “whole college experience” is what all graduating seniors who are attending college will be looking forward too. I am eager to see where college takes me and get a glimpse of what my future has the potential to become.
Almost everybody dreams of having the perfect family when they're older. My dream is to have a big family that I can financially provide for and be able to give my kids a happy life. By attending college, I will have the opportunity to someday be able to provide for my future family. College will give me the chance to earn a degree and work hard to get a well-paying job.
Aside from getting a well-paying career, I want to be able to love what I’m doing every day. Over the years, I have watched my mom work hard and get the chance to experience her dream job. I envy the fact that she goes to work happy and enjoying what she does every day. From watching this, it has made me ambitious and I know that I will work just as hard as she has to love my future job. Going to college will help me prepare and figure out what I enjoy doing and what I can picture myself doing as a career for the future.
Going to college is a very important stepping stone for me. College will give me a variety of opportunities and perspectives from the people I meet and the new things I learn. I will have the chance to prove my hard work and find myself a well-paying job that will financially help me in the future for when I have a family. Not only will college help me find a job that pays well, but it will also guide me to finding a career that I enjoy and love doing every day. I am not only excited to attend college, but I am also excited to look at the bigger picture and see how college will affect and help shape my future.
