Education is Key by Moriah - April 2015 Scholarship Essay
“Learn all you can, and don’t sit on the can.” This quote is from my grandfather who instilled education to be the key to success. He would always have me do my homework early and make sure it reached perfection. I realized that something as little as homework, was a big deal to him. It took me a long time to finally realize what he did what he did. He saw the value in a good work ethic. Whatever homework I would hand in would represent me. Slacking on homework would show that I was a slacker even if I normally wasn’t. The purpose of education is to get ready for the world outside of school and prepare us for the problems in society, and maybe even fix the problems in society using what we learned. Examples would range from being able to have a good work ethic to being able to cure cancer.
Many people take their education for granted. Being able to learn all you can is an experience that not many people got to have. Education is supposed to give children and young adults the key to success in the future. Its purpose is to mold future cancer researchers and engineers. We wouldn’t have what we have if no one had an education. Every person who created a new invention or worked in the medical field got an education. Being able to get one is a privilege and an experience that should be taken advantage of.
Homework is an example of a skill that we learn in elementary school. It’s embedded in us to turn it in on time and correct. In the real world, bills need to be paid with the correct amount paid. Also, if you have a job that’s in a corporate field, papers need to be handed in on time and correctly. Education is meant to also get us ready for the future tasks that we might have.
