A Confidence Booster by Morgann - March 2014 Scholarship Essay

My greatest academic achievement would probably have to be the 4.0 I received in my Medical Terminology class. This was the first official college course I had ever taken. I had heard from countless people how difficult the class was and how, even though they had worked really hard, they had not done well in the class. I was so afraid to take the class - I did not want to do poorly in my first college class. The class was even more work than I thought it would be because the amount of vocabulary was ridiculous. By the end of the fifteenth chapter, there were three thousand potential words and roots that I could have been tested on during my exam. However, I did just fine and actually 4.0'd the class.

This impacted me by giving me confidence. I had always done well in high school, but I had been terrified that when I went to college the work would be too much to handle. This proved to me that, with a little hard work, I could do just as good as I had in high school. I am no longer afraid or worried about college. I am very confident that I can succeed in college.
