Major Essay Submission by Morgan - May 2023 Scholarship Essay

I am a current student athlete at North Carolina Wesleyan University. There I am studying to get my bachelors degree in Exercise Science. Being an athlete I have always had a passion for exercise. Learning about the functions, benefits, and scientific side of exercise is something that has always interested me. By partaking in this major not only will I get the baseline education needed to further my studies, but also will learn how to use exercise in my own life in a more effective and efficient manner. With this major, partnered with a minor in psychology, I want to attend Occupational Therapy graduate school, hopefully at the University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill. Completing graduate school with a doctoral degree is something I have always dreamed of doing, a lifetime goal of mine.
After I get through my schooling process, I wish to work in pediatric occupational therapy focusing on the development of Exceptional Children (EC). Promotion of occupational therapy in EC and inclusion in general are things that are not publicly promoted enough for people to see the benefits. In my future I wish to influence and persuade people to use occupational therapy to its fullest. We are thinking way far ahead in the future, as for now I need to complete the first stage of this process and that is continuing my major studies in Exercise Science.
