Girl, Get Moving! by Morgan - February 2020 Scholarship Essay
The alarm clock sounds off. She slowly rises. She instinctively taps the snooze button, then drifts back to her slumber.
To the women who use sleep as an escape. To the women going through divorce, and to those facing financial hardships -- I would start a nonprofit organization for these women, enduring what may be some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
"Girl, Get Moving!" would be an organization that benefits women who are struggling, and provides them the opportunity to strengthen their sense of self through exercise and healthy habits. This organization would encourage women to get moving, and would offer classes for interactive activities such as yoga, dance, and pilates -- all free of cost. The program would include opportunities for healthy exercise, a safe space for women to connect with one another, and ways to practice self-love.
This is a non-profit organization that I would love to start. Every female deserves to reach her maximum potential, to feel confident, healthy, beautiful, and to have practices that allow her to achieve optimum health. No woman should have to feel restrained by relationship or financial difficulties, which is why Girl, Get Moving would be devoted to allowing all women the opportunity to become the woman they were always meant to be. Girl power is real. Moreover, the most powerful thing is a collective group of women -- strong, bravel, independent, and united as one.
