Procrastination at its finest by Morgan - December 2017 Scholarship Essay

Monday morning wake up, push the start button on the coffee pot grab my phone open Twitter scroll through all the tweets, favorite some and retweet some. Grab my cup of coffee to open my lap top to pull up my class to see what this week’s assignment is. Just what every college student expects a project two week before thanksgiving and due the week after thanksgiving break. Read over the rubric and requirements sounds simple just need to gather my materials.
All day long I go on thinking about the project I have and who I know that is a current athlete that I can interview and act as their sports psychologist. Thanksgiving break is in two weeks that gives me plenty of time to gather my five questions and review the sample YouTube videos so that I can interview my cousin who will be down the week of thanksgiving.
Finally, thanksgiving week is here, and I have my five questions and I ask politely but in a sly manner if my cousin would be willing to do me a big favor. Of Course, she tells me yes, so I spill the beans to her that we must do a 15-minute interview and it will be converted into a YouTube video for my whole class to watch. The look on her face was priceless. We get started on this interview and we fly through the 5 questions that I have. So, I asked if she would be willing to do another one so that it might be longer. I suggested we come back the next day and she can think on the five questions I asked so that she would have longer responses and I could better elaborate on the paper I had to write off her responses. We came back the next day and had recorded a 14-minute interview and was able to write my two-page paper off her responses.
My biggest strategy when it comes to projects is to get started on it right away. Even if it’s just thinking on what you might want to do for the project. It took my two days to think of who I might interview and luckily my cousin who plays softball was coming down for the week. I also always review the videos or requirements of the project several times so that I have a complete understanding of the project.
