If History Could Rewind by Morgan - October 2017 Scholarship Essay
If I could rewind history, and were given the opportunity I would choose to have dinner with Abraham Lincoln. Living near Lincoln Boyhood my entire life I have always felt a connection with Abraham Lincoln, and so there for I would love the opportunity to eat dinner with Mr. Lincoln himself.
As we would sit down for dinner I would only hope to see a platter of steak, a bowl of mashed potatoes, and corn on the cob. Once president Lincoln and I got done engulfing our food I would start with conversation about his childhood here in Indiana. I would ask him how it was in his opinion growing up here in Southern Indiana, and even ask him if my last name was relevant or if he recognized it. Maybe he would know some of my ancestors.
I would then slowly end the meal with a question that would really make him think. I would ask if he new what he knows now would he change any of his actions or decisions in which he had made. As the dinner ends I would open the table for questions about me, and end the miraculous dinner experience with a thank you to President Abraham Lincoln, and a firm handshake.
