Nobel Prize Recipient by Monika - December 2018 Scholarship Essay

Since I was a kid, I would always see people talk about the Nobel Prize, I would see it on television, I remember hearing about who won it that year, and people discussing how much they deserved it. As a young girl, I always wondered “What are the requirements to be the Nobel Prize Winner? What do you do deserve it?” And to this day I still do, I think about the honor someone must feel after they win this prize, and I’m sure they must have done things that contributed in helping others.
According to the Alfred Nobel, the one to receive the award “shall done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses, this includes the five categories for the Nobel Prize, which are Chemistry, Physics, Physiology, and Literature, which are awarded to those who have done a difference and excelled in their field. For me, this prize is a really important one, that shouldn’t be given to anybody, and should be awarded after the committee members had a long discussion about it, and came to the conclusion based on their achievements. If I were to be a member of this committee, the two qualities my recipient would need to possess would be to be have been successful in their category during this past year, and must be focused on a specific goal which helps people around the world, and also makes a difference in different areas. For me, a good recipient should stand out from the pack thanks to the things they achieved, as a scientist and also as a human being.
In conclusion, in my point of view this award should be given to those who have contributed to charity, to those that have used their money and supported different good causes, those who became philanthropies, but also, achieved things in chemistry, physics, literature, etc. that made them stand out from the others in their field of study.
