A situation outside of school where I learned to be a better student would be when I was volunteering at a nursing home. Although it may not seem like the proper place to learn to become a better student, my visit was very inspirational. Through talking with a few of the residents about their lives and their families, one story struck me the most. A lady was talking to me about how when she was my age she did not get very many chances to further her education. Saying how our generation is very fortunate and we take what we have for granted.
She talked of how she would have loved to further her education and become something that no one believed she could have achieved. Her passion for learning inspired me, her words motivated me to become a better student. Instead of spending time and worrying about social media, I could spend that time doing something much more beneficial for myself and for my future. After talking with her, my entire perspective of my education has changed, to better my future I am currently enrolled in many advanced and rigorous courses, as well as becoming more involved and participating more. I only hope other students could value their learning and their future as much as I now do.
