How Leadership has Already Affected my Future by Monica - March 2015 Scholarship Essay

Throughout my whole life, my parents have pushed my siblings and I to work harder than they ever did. They did not go to college or the military so they never had a stable job or place to live. Therefore, I have always been encouraged to work harder for the best. The issues that interest me the most are my parents’ hard work, my work, and my own future. This all led me to believe in leadership and become an example of it.

Because of my parents' influence I worked hard and surrounded myself with people who do the same as I do. Helen Cox High School has opened me up to different activities that I would not have in my home country. I have been in the Cougar Band, Academic Games, Lady Cougars Soccer Team, Student Council, ROTC, and National Honor Society (NHS). I am the proudest of my positions in NHS and ROTC. In NHS, I am the Assistant Historian. I am very grateful to have this position because I try my hardest to get everything done despite of any problems. In addition, I have worked hard to be the Group Commander of Helen Cox's ROTC since I was the in the 9th grade. I accomplished my goal this year and I am learning and having a great time as the Group Commander. All these activities are a comparison of how I will be in college.

I really believe that leadership is something that can inspire people. For example, I want to be able to be an important part of an organization. In college, I want to be able to bring others into great positions and experiences. I understand the treasure of being in a position and how much learning it brings. Because of all of this, I believe my future is brighter.
