Study Tips by Mollie - May 2016 Scholarship Essay
Studying, many believe, can either make or break someone's grade. I, too, believe that to be true. However, I think good studying tools are just more or as important at the studying itself. Reviewing old tests, quizzes and worksheets and then testing myself kn the material just reviewed has helped me the most.
Throughout the year I will spend several hours every week reviewing and going over the material handed back in each class. As the weeks go by, the knowledge gets stuck in my brain even if I am not particularly interested in the subject. When finals come around, I only have to do a bit of review and then all the information comes flooding back.
It also helps if you separate the returned material into categories and then study by subject. Then to review, you mix all of the material up and ask yourself the questions off of whichever piece of paper you pick up first. By mixing the categories up, your brain learns to find the information in any order, thus helping you remember concepts and facts much better overall.
Reviewing old material from each class for several hours a week helps keep the information fresh in my brain and helps me stay focused and be able to remember concepts and facts when the finals come around.
