Education Should be a Right by Mikayla - January 2021 Scholarship Essay
I personally believe that education should be a right for all in order to help society thrive as a whole. Without education it is tough to receive job and career opportunities that will be beneficial for affording everyday living. There are too many people whom cannot afford to further their education any further than high school, which ends up limiting them opportunities in life. This could also be a contribution to the high numbers of homeless we have throughout the United States. If there are more ways that make being able to further education easier financially and or physically, such as more programs that are offered; this will help our society have more educated people, as well as more successful people. Education should not be looked at as a privilege, because not everyone that is worthy of an education has easy circumstances to make education possible for them. We as a society should make it easier for everyone to be able to successful if they want to be and provide them with the proper tools to do so.
Some colleges and programs require many criteria in order to be considered eligible, this ties into the road blocks that prevent many people from furthering their education. Some of the criteria may include a high GPA, skills, specific amount of money, etc. Within some guidelines family income plays a factor, which can make it tough for those who fall into the category of middle-class. These individuals' "make too much money" to receive much assistance to help further their education, but in reality they make just enough to stay a float in society and barely get by with paying their bills. No one should have to struggle in order to help better themselves. Education should be free, in order to not deter individuals for wanting to be good, productive members of society.
