#learn4you by Mikayla - April 2018 Scholarship Essay

Attending any school, whether it be high school or college of any kind. is a choice you alone have to make. Learning is a privilege in this country. We should take advantage of the opportunity we have to learn. I am currently attending Boise State University and loving every minute of it. This experience has opened my eyes to so much more of the world. One thing I have learned is that being here I have found a passion for learning. When I was in high school, I dreaded going every day because I did not want to accept new things and learn more, all I wanted to do was graduate. Looking back, I would not trade my experience for the world because I got so many opportunities to expand my learning with doing things that I love. One example is marching band. I was in the band for two years and I learned so much and loved it but did not realize that what I was learning (teamwork, leadership skills, and how to march) would help me in my future education. I am now a member of Boise State's Keith Stein's Blue Thunder Marching Band. This has all been through self-motivation and the passion to learn.

There is so much of the world that is unexplored and undiscovered. Would it not be cool to go and discover all new things? Learning has such an impact on the world today that without learning there is no knowledge. Learning is not attained by chance, it is sought for with enthusiasm and intelligence. Some of the greatest philosophers and scientists in life would not have discovered all the things we know now if it was not for their passion of learning and trying new things. Brian Herbert once said "The capacity to learn is a gift; the ability to learn is a skill; and the willingness to learn is a choice".

I have been so blessed to have the ability to go to college and continue my education. I am happy to announce that my education and learning will not end after Boise State. I have decided to continue my education at law school. I have not yet decided where but it will be a new adventure waiting for me and I cannot wait to see what my future has in store and all the learning opportunities I will have.
