Nobel Prize by Michael - December 2018 Scholarship Essay
Since 1901 the Nobel Prize has been awarded over five hundred times to individuals and organizations that have shown exceptional qualities and abilities that merit recognition by the world. Many of these recipients come from different countries, have had to overcome political and social hurdles to stand before the committee and be honored with the Nobel Prize. Each laureate are very unique and in my opinion have little in common. They speak different languages, have different beliefs, work in different but two qualities I believe are universal in every man and woman awarded with such an honor. If I were on a committee to decide who would be awarded with the Nobel Prize this year, I would look for these two essential qualities. I believe the recipient needs to have a vision and courage. Every person who has been awarded with such an honor to this date can identify with these two qualities which why these qualities are so vital in my opinion. Knowing where you are going and having the courage to get there is something each and everyone of us could use a little more of.
Knowing where you are going and what you want to achieve is very important if I were to decide who would be awarded with the nobel prize. Whether it is in medicine, physics, chemistry, creating peace, and many more equally inspiring accomplishments, a potential laureate needs to have a vision for themselves. To obtain this end goal there are many steps one must take and hurdles to overcome without knowing where you are headed it is easy to get off track when adversity strikes. Having this vision not a luxury many of us have but the world awards only six nobel prizes each year and none of those awarded, man or woman are our average human being.
Courage is the most important quality someone deserving of the Nobel Prize must have. Most winners of the Nobel Prize have had death threats to themselves and their family and have served jail time. These to hurdles alone would stop most people in their tracks myself included. My family is so important to me and just a threat to them is a scary thought. To continue to reach your goal past all these hurdles takes large quantities of courage that most of us can only wish we had. Belief in yourself and the drive to perceiver to make the world a better place is deserving with the Nobel Prize at the very least.
We can all benefit in having a little more courage and a plan to achieve our goals. At the end of the day our six laureates each year are amazing and inspiring people who posses these qualities on a superhuman level. If I had the honor to take part in such an important decision like the Nobel Prize, I would continue this trend of the winner in any field to have a vision and the courage to achieve that vision.
