Environmental, Sustainable Data Collection by Michael - August 2018 Scholarship Essay

I have been reading for years on particular subjects relating to the Environment and my Podcast would be environmental subjects of how it is affected by humans and want can humans do in return.
There are many stories across the world that are interesting to certain Chemistry elements and compounds to cause illness and death. Take for example the Japanese MInamata Disease. Minamata being a town name in southern Japan. In the end, it was simply dumping Mercury waste into the waters and letting the sea life get absorbed by the Organic Mercury and the Seafood diet was and still is very big in Japan causing people to shake uncontrollably and have other side effects with the brain. There is footage from 1908 to the 1950’s on the factory being built and the people getting affected. Even though it maybe YouTube videos, one video and audio can transfer to different subjects to make sure whoever is learning it, gets everything and not have a single question on the basics to know about. Like the word “Mercury” to be able to click on like a word in Wikipedia to take a moment to teach that subject for those who don’t understand what it is or get confused with the first planet from the sun before reading on in the story by finding the next video or audio. The idea that more than 60 years have passed since the incident and how everyone and the environment itself is. Well laws have been passed to stop the dumping and the citizens are still struggling, since the government is not doing directly enough for them. Interviews by the victims and translated messages from the news audio.
Since Japan is known to make a lot of things, along with China and other Asian countries and since we mentioned a factory that released mercury, the file from that can transfer to the specific products people buy to find out where it came from and conditions the people are working in and how the environment feels. The atmosphere of one similar word topic to go to a whole another category of subjects that maybe similar or nearby that felt it should be known about.
When having a broad topic like global warming for example to explain all the details of it of how it’s affecting us and the environment. Floods, droughts, Melting glaciers, unbalance in coral reef, food crops affected, stronger storms, change in seasons and etc. won’t have to be as detailed as every story across the world on rising sea levels, but to get a feel for what Global warming can do to us as a whole. The details on the little things to do to make a positive impact, would be included on the end, since Global warming is the overall general topic as a whole on the planet’s environment and not specifically to one thing like saving food and worry about those details, even though it’s a small fraction of the details on transportation, resource use and gas release when in a landfill. To mention things like eat less meat, transport on public transportation and carpools along with bicycle riding, recycle more and be educated on where it gets disposed of like curbside, drop off at a center or ship it off to Terracycle.
The overall biology is included to mention very strongly to at least know on mother earth’s systems and how we understand them to not only protect, but to have a better understanding to solutions to our own problems. When a species dies in nature, it’s not given a proper burial or simply a steel casket worth thousands of dollars, it gives life back to the earth. Humans in cemeteries doesn’t really help with the land space help or anything else, giving back to the earth, just simply a monument added to look at. To take for example, the earth doesn’t learn from anything, sure it changes all the time, but from space it’s not shown any borders or goes by any policy that humans create similar to, and if we let the rules bend or not be so strict on environmental works we can all have a better life to avoid the controlling thought of always making money. Humans to take an example from the earth and be happier of a better appreciation of life.
The History of the world info in the podcast. To not go over in every history lesson, but specifics like the population grown over the centuries, and decreased, along with advances in technology to make us live longer and the atmosphere of how it affects our planet and etc.. To understand how far we have come and where you and we might go in the near future would strike thought, fear or something in a new perspective to take action in ways we never have thought of before. To also go over the political actions to go over the laws we currently have to take the step again on new situations and understand our recent past. To even write letters to politicians on certain subjects that we may be concern about in our areas or simply for the country for the rest of the world to follow.
My topic is on Environmental subjects that you could possibly imagine, how to live sustainably every day with information to use, all in a data collection podcast.
