A Dinner with President John F Kennedy (JFK) by Michael - October 2017 Scholarship Essay
As a young country, we have experience and grown as a nation through countless adversities. The adversity of the creation of our nation by abolishing the chains that tied it to Great Britain. We did this through the leadership of George Washington, who is a president which many would like to sit down to have dinner with and discuss what occurred during his time here on earth. Another president that many envision as an awe-inspiring role model, and desire to have dinner with, would be Abraham Lincoln. As president, President Lincoln lead the Union through the Civil War to bring two broken pieces of the same country together. This was no easy task! Nonetheless, he did succeed in his goal of bringing our nation back together. Unfortunately, his reward for carrying out this task was to be assassinated just days after the end of the American Civil War.
Talking about presidents that had been assassinated in the past brings us to the president that assassination shocked America and the American public. The president that was loved by all, yet was assassinated, is President John F Kennedy or better known as JFK. It is terrible that such a well-spoken president that lead this growing super-power of a nation during The Cold War, during the time of space exploration, and during the Civil Rights Movement died. JFK was skilled in many ways, he was level-headed and calm while under pressure. For that reason, John F Kennedy would be the president which I would wish to have dinner with and have a discussion with since he is one of those people that if you could chat with, you would learn much from.
