Third Grade Teacher: My Intended College Major by Miata - February 2013 Scholarship Essay

Ever since I was a little girl I was always playing school. I would set up little desks for all my cousins and make fake worksheets and tests. I would make up the rules and make sure everyone was always participating in my make believe lessons. Being a teacher has always been my dream career, When I was ten years old my grandma let me come and observer her class for a day, since she was a teacher too. All throughout high school I still have had the same goal in mind since I was little, to become a teacher. My junior year of high school I was given an amazing opportunity to be involved with a fifth grade class. It was so much fun to be a teacher’s aide and get credit for it for high school. My senior year, this year, I was given another great opportunity to work with a first grade class. These opportunities have let me decide what grade I want to teach, which third grade is. I think third grade will be perfect for me since its in-between first and fifth, and because they are still not too old to think they are too good for school, and they still love their teachers. I am very excited to see what the future holds for me, and I cannot wait till the day I get to become a teacher.
