When families move to a new community, finding a church where their beliefs align can be a frustrating process. When my family moved from Williamsburg, VA, to St. Augustine, FL, we spent several months trying to find a church. My parents researched church directories, websites, and social media pages, but it is difficult to find enough information to determine what the church believes. To address this problem, I would create an online church directory showcasing all the small details of churches here in St. Augustine, so that people don’t need to spend months going from church to church.

Many church websites already contain basic information about them, but smaller details often play an important role in helping people decide whether a church is a good fit for them. My directory would include information like worship music, church leadership, beliefs on theological topics, and pastors and theologians referenced and recommended by the church. Having all of this in one place would really help people make an educated decision on whether to visit the church.

As well as having detailed information, the church directory would be simple and user-friendly. Because churches vary in the quality of their websites, finding what you are looking for can be time consuming. This new directory would have a homepage showing a list of churches by name, denomination, and website URL. Users could click on the church name to view a detailed profile with the information needed to determine if the church aligns with their beliefs.

I believe that this project would really benefit the Christians here in St. Augustine. Instead of spending weeks or months researching and visiting multiple churches, people can look in the directory to quickly identify a few churches to visit. By making this information more accessible, families and individuals can more easily find their church community.
