The Impending Future of Technology in Education. by Mia - February 2018 Scholarship Essay

As time progresses, technology's place in our lives only grows. By the year 2038, out education system will be completely modernized. Books will be an item of the past. Computers will take their place in order to make schoolwork more organized, compact, and with the times.

I can picture computers taking over the job of books for a few reasons. One being that many schools across the world are already starting to replace the typical binder with a school provided laptop or computer. The other being that the largest issue in school supplies today is students forgetting books at home, having backpacks that are unhealthily heavy, and having to spend tremendous amounts of money each year to replace their school supplies. With the advancements that could be made in computer technology and software by 2038, a student could unquestionably hold an entire world of learning at their fingertips.

In the year 2038 when computers are an integral part of education, many complications with the current school system will be a thing of the past. No more drowning in papers, forgetting a pencil or getting a mild case of scoliosis by carrying a backpack that weighs more than you. Everything will be easy, efficient, and it will all be in the same place. In addition, the environment will benefit from this as well. In an year, the average person wastes more than 700 pounds of paper. With this inevitable technology take-over, there will be no more wasting paper.

Though you may not agree with the current modernizing of society, you can't say that replacing books with computers is a bad idea. The benefits are endless. But though this all sounds nice now, we'll just have to wait until 2038 to see if this idea comes to life!
