Should all college students be required to study abroad? Why or why not? by Merlonda - March 2016 Scholarship Essay
A brand new country with incredible outlooks, foods, and customs. This is the benefit that students have when it comes to studying abroad. Within the boundaries of this essay, I will discuss if I think that it should be a requirement for all college students to study abroad and why I feel the way that I do.
I believe that all college students should be required to study abroad. I say this because as some students become adults or began to have families of their own, they will never know what it is to leave their comfort zone and see the world. There are tremendous benefits when it comes to students being able to study abroad. For instance, a student may be able to see the world, experience different aspects and styles of education, experience a new culture, learn a foreign language, and gain a career opportunity. The possibilities are endless, and it lets the student experience more of life. Life has so much to offer and often individuals are cheated by not stepping out of their comfort zone. I can speak from experience by saying that because I was one of those students that did not get to experience life to the fullest in college. I did not leave home to go to school, I commuted; therefore I was not able to see what else was out there.
In conclusion, in addition to every student being required to study abroad, it will give the student personal growth as well. A student is a student when in their comfort zone, but when one steps out and experiences life, he or she can become an adult, and that is when independence is gained.
