Opportunities by Meghan - November 2016 Scholarship Essay

I have always been thankful for my education. My parents have worked hard to provide me with a good high school education and have done their best to help me with my grades while also pushing me to become more independent. The gratitude I feel towards being blessed with a great high school education is great, but the privilege to have a college education is even better.
The thing I think I will most be grateful for is the opportunity I am receiving. The opportunity to study with new people, discover a new area, and start a new life by myself is a big step, and it is something to be thankful for because not everyone can have an opportunity such as this. To repay my parents and take them up on all of their hard work, I am going to work hard to get good grades and excel in my athletic career. Getting good grades is important for getting a good job later in my life. I believe and have also been told that college is a good place to gain your independence and learn to live on your own. All these things are something to be thankful for while I attend college.
Overall, I am thankful the opportunity and privilege to attend a college. My parents have worked so hard for me to have this, so I will work my hardest to get good grades and become a better person.
