Teachers are More than a Babysitter by Megan - May 2023 Scholarship Essay

Teaching has always been a passion of mine; whether I am teaching someone how to read, properly sign a letter, or use Google Docs, I love it. I attend university to obtain a degree in Elementary Education with a dual concentration in Special Education. Even though teaching is my dream, I have always wanted my passion to lead me further than standing in a classroom. I want to make a difference by advocating for those not fortunate enough to receive an education, pointing out the biased flaws in our educational system, and doing much more. To do so, I want to be as highly educated as possible, making sure to get the most out of my education to help others in need best.
Along with receiving a Bachelor’s degree, I plan also to complete three more degrees. I will continue my education into graduate school to receive a Master’s degree in Elementary Education, then an Educational Specialist in Educational Leadership, and finally a Doctorate in School Improvement. I hope to use time, knowledge of school systems, and education to build a platform to advocate for everyone.
I am best suited to receive the scholarship being awarded, as I can use the money to help further my education, which, in return, will help numerous others. I am also highly qualified, as I have seen school systems from almost every angle – student, substitute teacher, and soon, teacher. No matter the scholarship committee's decision, I appreciate a small moment of your time.
