It's GOal Time! by Megan - August 2022 Scholarship Essay

While setting my upcoming academic school year's goals, I made a check list of items I wanted to accomplish in my senior year. The top of my outline was have fun and enjoy the ride. Other items included on my check list were, continue to get straight A's, volunteer more, try new classes or clubs and end your final year of high school knowing you gave it your all.

Having fun is a priority this year. I have not always had this as a priority but this is something that is very important to me. I will work really hard at coming out of my shell more, really engaging my friends to do more things together to make memories and try to attend as many extra curricular events that I am able to. I know if I really try to make memories, I WILL make memories.

I have been blessed at obtaining good grades. My grades are very important part of who I am and I will continue to challenge myself and work hard at my upcoming classes. I know that it is hard to get good grades, but I will strive for excellence.

I try very hard to lead by example. I am an active volunteer at my church and in my community, although I know I can do more. I have taught CCD and am a reader and greeter at my church, I volunteer with my FFA teaching younger students about careers in Agriculture and I have raked leaves at a variety of businesses. Other volunteer opportunities I would like to try are - helping at the annual Color run, organize our annual March Madness event at school, read to the elementary students and help out at our annual 4th of July celebration.

Since I have had academic excellence as my old goals, I have been blessed with having the ability to take some "fun classes" or classes I would love to try. I have full filled most of my academic needs, and am really excited to try a few classes outside of my comfort zone. I will try a forestry class and possibly an art class. I am going to try a marketing class and an independent Spanish class

Since I am in 3 varsity sports, I have not always attended other students' activities. This is on my bucket list this year. Many of my close friends are in forensics and I would love to watch their plays/poem readings, I want to attend more Football, boys basketball games and wrestling matches and lastly I want to attend more baseball games.

If I work hard and keep my goals in daily sight, I know I will end my senior year amazingly. I can't wait for the year to start, to make memories and to end with a bang. If I am able to accomplish all of my goals, I have no doubt I will be more likely to be successful in college.
